3rd May 2005 and still in China!
Have returned to the world of 5 star hotels at roughly travel lodge prices! partly because I fancied lying by a pool for a couple of days and aided by ankle injury!
Two days ago I managed to fall over and hurt my ankle again (same one I hurt falling down hostel steps in Czech) and so have had to rest it!!!! This time it was at the end of a big day out .. cycling 8km, climbing up 180m to see Moon Hill in 35 degree heat, followed by another 6km across countryside (ie cycling on rough ground between paddy fields), getting seriously lost! with little food and water resulted not suprisingly in a "funny" turn.. had to lie in the shade for an hour whilst a local farmer went home, cooked me food and brought it back.. I and the couple of Danish I was with were then escorted back across rough terrain (where I fell!) and a river (bikes and us on a bamboo raft!) to a road and we put the bikes on the back of a truck for the journey back to town (thank god as it was at least another 8km)
Still not downloaded any pictures and have managed to snap in half a CD full of Russia and Mongolia so not a happy bunny! (and no I didnt have another copy before another bright spark suggests this!!!!!!!)
However still have new photos to post for you all soon .. usual stuff... Terrocota Army, 71 metre Budda at Leshan, Yangze River, Three Gorges, Biggest Dam in the world, and best of all me and a one year old Panda at the Panda Breeding Centre in Chengdu! :-)
Will be in Vietnam in a couple of days as Visa due to run out and I am a bit china-ed out too!
S x
